When I woke up this morning to howling winds and a down pour, I must say I wasn’t to excited to go jump. We had already spent one day inside due to the rain, and I really did not want to spend another one indoors. As the day went on and competition time got closer, the weather was not getting any better, maybe even a little worse. We packed up all of our jumping stuff and loaded the van, half expecting someone to tell us the comp was cancelled. When we arrived at the hills, it didn’t look half as bad as we had expected it to. It was still raining pretty hard, but we had high hopes that it was going to let up. After getting my suit and everything on I put a trash bag over my self to stay as dry as possible for as long as possible. We were going to have a trial and then two competition rounds, so I was going to fight the rain as long as I could. Alissa came inside from doing some immos and said the rain had stopped and to save my trash bag for the next round. I, however, am a very bad listener and wore it anyway thinking the rain could start again at any second.
We took our trial rounds with out any troubles but the rain started coming down about half way through the round. So I was left out of luck having used my trash bag and left it at the top of the jump I had to walk back up the hill soaking my suit. Our first round jumps all went alright; I don’t think any of us were particularly thrilled with how they went. The second rounds started as quickly as they could get it off, so we did not do reverse order or cut the field. I think we were all satisfied with how our second comp rounds went. Lindsey ended up in 3rd place behind two Slovenians, Jessica got 4th place, Alissa jumped into 11th, Karla got 23rd, and I actually moved up into 30th, just enough to get a point for the day! The day did not end up as bad as we had anticipated by the looks of the weather. Lindsey took over the 1st place position for the four hills tour over Daniela Iraschko. We were all a little soaked after the competition but the whole day was worth it.
