Park City hosts international
women's ski jump contest

   Compiled by Brett Prettyman

The VISA International Women's Ski Jumping Festival is Friday and Saturday at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City.

Admission is free for the event, the first international women's competition since approval of the 2009 World Championships in the Czech Republic and a formal recommendation for women's ski jumping to be included in the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010.

The event will utilize artificial turf. Women's Ski Jumping USA and the National Sports Foundation are hosting the event, which will include competitors from around the world.

The gates open at 4:30 p.m. on both days, with opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. Three rounds of jumping start at 6 p.m. Spectators will get a chance to meet the jumpers when the final jumps are completed, about 8 p.m.
